Due — Reminders & Timers App Reviews

Almost there

Bought both the Mac & iOS versions. iOS is more elegant. Syncing between the two is not great, to put it mildly. The apps don’t seem to do well in the background generally speaking. Hope this can be improved in future releases. Was hoping for a kind of upgraded NAG, that was more or less as reliable as the built in iOS Alarm app.

Display not working correctly but workaround

V1.4 displays not correctly in menubar come back in V1.3 which works…but workaround for Due Mac 1.4 bug on non-English/Jap system, run in Terminal: defaults write com.phocusllp.duemac AppleLanguages ("en-US")

the GTD 2 mn rule when you need it

Ubiquitous app that is on all my iDevices. The very good things about this App are: * It never gives up reminding you until you complete the task * It has a very good and simple UI that allows you to enact on your tasks; deferring it pr completing it Here, I put: * All very simple 2mn recurrent tasks (i.e.: Perform CleanMyMac maintenance, Do a TimeCapsule on an external HDD, Perform watch on tender on clients website) * Punctual reminder on very simple tasks (i.e.: Cal back one person, Buy a small item from a very specific shop, Tell a story to some person) and usually I set a time when I know I will be with someone, at some place or in the proper mood

Good app, but still behind iOS version and too expensive

It looks better on iOS, way better. It works better as well. For instance, theres the drawer. $9.99 for such a simple app? If didnt depend on it on iOS, I would never pay. I feel robed. Besides that, the app is really good, my daily routine depends on it.

Menubar icon would be nicer

I like this App but the icon is a shame and takes too much space in my dock. What about an option to display it as a menubar item?

great, can be better

Please add German Language and iCloud push notification !!!

Great to see Due on the Mac!

I use Due regularly on my iPhone and iPad and was happy to see Due make its debut on the Mac platform — complete with iCloud integration for syncing with its iOS counterparts. The interface is well thought-out and includes a natural language interface for creating new tasks. Using Due is both efficient and intuitive and I like the fact that most operations can be performed using the keyboard. It would be nice to have the option to run Due as a menu bar app — Im guessing that this will be a frequently requested feature that will make its way into a future release.

Awesome

Finally, its good to see Due for OSX. It needs the option to run in the menu bar and the option to remove it from the dock. Thanx for the great app!

Didnt need it, but glad I bought it.

This is a great app when you need to be nudged into doing something until you get it done. It has a nice interface that gets out of your way. With Reminders by  getting a dedicated app in OS X Mountain Lion, I really questioned if I needed this app. Due does a much better job of Reminders than Apples application does in its current state. iCloud sync has worked flawlessly and I am happy with my purchase on all the platforms. As I have stated, I didnt need this app but I am glad that I purchased it. It allows me to get simple stuff done on time and creating reminders using natural language input is a joy. Like Fantastical, you are likely to use it more becasue of this feature. Dues implementation of natural language is however a little quirky, but figuring out how it works is a snap. It is important for people to know that this is not a full blown GTD app by any stretch, but more of a time sensitive task manager for the little things.

Good but not as polished as iOS App

Ive been using Due daily on iOS for over a year now and this is an awesome app. The 1.0 OSX version is great but miss the polished of the iOS app but I love it anyway.

Pretty good

I have this for my iPhone and having the Mac counterpart is nice. One thing that it annoying is the "uploading" nudge at the top right everytime I make an edit in the app. Otherwise good work porting this over!

Reliable & Synchronized Reminders

Love having reminders on my Mac that sync with the phone. Quite often Ill have the phone on vibrate or leave it in another room and not hear with headphones on. Due has been great for everything that I dont want to see on a calendar, from important things like medication reminders to simple things like taking out the trash.

It has achieved the impossible...

Thats right, youve done it Phocus. You have actually organized my life! Well, almost organized... But, this app has come closer to keeping my you-know-what together than any other productivity app Ive tried. The nice thing about Due is that it behaves like a todo list, but with timestamps. It is a very simple concept that works perfectly for me. I can enter times and dates for things that are going to happen today, or a month from today, and it works its way up the list until it is due. Also, the configurable "sleep" mode, that reminds you every x minutes to do something until it is done, works very well. It isnt overly obnoxious, it just provides a pleasant "ding" every few minutes until you take care of it. I cant think of much I would change with this app. The sync messages are a little annoying, but not worth loosing a star for me. iCal and email integration would be cool, maybe. Be wary of adding any complexity to an already elegant and effective solution, though. Due acts as an extension of my memory. It has made my workday more productive, my clients happier, and improved my marriage! Thanks Phocus!

Meh

Dont get this review the wrong way, this is a great app.. However, Im curious on if its really needed. With the Calender, or even the Reminders app that comes FREE with the phone Im not sure if this app is really needed. I bought it for both my iphone and mac computer and it works great with iCloud, but so does Calender and its free….. youre choice.

Task Manager / Reminder that works for me

I keep trying different task managers and now I can chuck them and just use DUE. It works for what I need. Quick reminders and timers. I know I could be using iCal but Ive had problems with iCloud sync and I dont want to clutter up my calendar with daily or repeating tasks. iCal is not intuitive like DUE. Works for me on my mac, iPod Touch and iPad. Simply terrific!

Great app for remembering details!

Due is a great that helps me remembering appointments, important details and lots of things that must be done a certain day at a specific time. The only thing that bothers me with Due is the way you select the day of the task when you create a new one. Unlike Notificant which was an exceptionnal software similar to this one, you had a calendar integrated in the software. With due, you have to use another calendar to determine which day you want…

Not as good as iPad or iPhone version

Awkward to use and repeats alerts that Ive already received on iPad and iPhone. Notification center support and ability to snooze and delay reminders without right-clicking would be a big improvement.

Its one of my external brains

I use it at least 20 times a day. Its quick to input, quick to snooze and best of all the reminders are persistant so you cant ignore them. Its best if you also have the iPhone version as a companion so that youre always covered.

Good but not perfect yet

I have been using this app on iphone for a while now, and I really like the look of it. On the mac I think I would like to see the shadows on the buttons like on the iPhone app. It helps separating every task plus it adds dept. I find the mac app a little less intuitive because of the need to go in option then clic the postpone 10 minutes once and/or do that a few times if you only want to postpone for less that a complete hour. Instead I would like to see the same 6 icons to snooze or set the repeat options… Just my thoughts. Very good overall. I still use it every day. :)

A little Buggy

Nice idea, but Im frustrated already because if you activate Dues "Open At Login" option under Preferences it rightly opens at login, but un-checking the option didnt "take". Due is always there whenever I reboot (Apps should have a trial period - why do we have to pay before finding out if we like them?). Due fails to appear in System Preferences>User&Groups>Login Items, so you have no Admin control over it either. I bought it for a MacBook Pro w/ Mountain Lion (fully updated)
